Oppo N1 CyanogenMod Edition to launch in December with several extras in tow

Oppo N1 CyanogenMod Edition

When Oppo first introduced us to its new flagship N1 back in September, it teased that in addition to the regular version of its device that will ship with its custom Color OS interface, it planned to offer a limited edition N1 that will come preloaded with CyanogenMod. We haven’t heard much about the special N1 since, but today Oppo broke its silence and revealed that it won’t be long before the unique handset goes on sale.

Oppo revealed this morning that its N1 CyanogenMod edition will begin shipping internationally in December with the same pricing as the regular N1. In addition to the CyangenMod-powered handset, buyers of this limited edition N1 will receive a handful of extra goodies, including some CyanogenMod stickers, special packaging and an N1 case that features both the CyanogenMod mascot Cid as well as Oppo’s own mascot, known as Ollie.

CyanogenMod started life as a custom ROM for the T-Mobile G1, and in the years since it’s grown into one of the most well-known custom ROMs in the Android world. Founder Steve Kondik announced in September that CyanogenMod is becoming its own company with aspirations of becoming the third major mobile operating system on the market. While the company hasn’t yet divulged a ton of details on how it plans to accomplish this, partnering with Oppo isn’t a bad way to start life as an independent company.
